Research America, Inc. is a public opinion research firm interested in aiding other companies, organizations, and political parties create better products and services for consumers throughout the United States. Contrary to many other market research facilities that specialize in only one area, Research America, Inc. provides information to clients from various backgrounds and fields: banking, healthcare, medical, political, retail, utilities, and the gaming industry (as well as many others). Our staff consists of highly qualified individuals who have trained in the fields of communications, computers, marketing, and research analysis, among others. Research America, Inc. provides many helpful and informative services:
Depending on our
client's requirements, Research America, Inc. conducts some surveys on
the computer and some on hardcopy (paper). Hard-Copy Questionnaires
We elicit opinions by conducting surveys in a variety of formats: Telephone Interviewing
The sample, the respondents contact information (i.e. phone number), can be imported into the survey questionnaire to be released or withheld with the touch of the keyboard. For example, a Research America, Inc. supervisor can decide to call only numbers in the Eastern Time Zone or only people who are members of a certain group.
The quota is the number of completes (completed surveys) a client wants in order to receive a diverse mixture of opinions. In cooperation with Research America, Inc.'s Sample Management service, Quota Control allows the survey to be set up to survey only a certain amount of any particular group. For example, assume a client wanted a total of 100 completes with 60 of those being registered Republicans and the other 40 being registered Democrats. Quota Control would allow surveys to be conducted with only republicans once 40 surveys are completed with democrats.
Monitoring is an important part of interviewing at Researching America, Inc. We monitor our interviewers while they are conducting surveys to ensure the highest quality results. A survey is only counted toward the quota if it passes vigorous requirements. Surveys not adequately conducted are placed back onto the phone for recall.
Every call attempt made to a phone number, whether it's a no answer, a callback, or a disconnect, is recorded into the computer. This allows Research America, Inc. to easily track all phone numbers and recall the ones that are more likely to result in a completed survey.
Coding is a process applied to open-ended questions. An open-ended question asks the interviewer to enter in the respondents exact wording rather than a pre-coded response. Once the survey is complete, an open-ended question must be coded in order to offer a frequency report (the percent of people that answered one way to a question as opposed to another way) of that question a client.
Extracting allows Research America, Inc. to split a survey with a large quota into surveys with smaller quotas to be run at more than one location. If a client has a specific date they wish to receive data from a survey, this allows us to complete the survey within the specified deadline.
Research America, Inc. uses the software StatXP to create tables of data to send to clients. A table cross-tabulates answers from the interviewing process, using banners, and creates a variety of frequency reports. A banner is the "definition" used to cross-tabulate certain questions. For example, a table can tell how many republicans believe a certain issue is a major problem or the percentage of those between the ages of 25 and 34 who listen to a certain radio station. As long as the question was asked in the interviewing process, a banner can be defined to cross-tabulate the data. Once the tables are created, they are printed out and either faxed or shipped to the client for their scrutinization.
